WhatsAppFacebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp on Tuesday
released a new update.
'''
WhatsApp has released a new update on the AppStore, bringing
the version number up to 2.18.80. Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp on
Tuesday released a new update for devices with iOS 10 and above with
"notification extension" that would allow users to see and download
received media files from on-screen notifications itself. WhatsApp for iPhone
has been updated to version 2.18.80 with the ability to let you send messages
to your WhatsApp groups directly using Siri.
To view the media preview, it will be necessary to Peek
and Pop or swipe down the notification.
WhatsApp has
developed a new powerful extension that significantly improves notifications. You
will be able to see some received media in your notifications thanks to the new
2.18.80 update! The new Notification Extension supports images and GIFs, but
you will be also able to download them directly from the notification if you’ve
disabled the Autodownload Settings, wrote in a blog post. According to
WABetainfo, a source that closely follows WhatsApp related news and additions,
version 2.18.80 for iOS adds an extension that allows for full media previews
in notifications. The extension only supports previews for images and gifs. Along
with the option to download, the update would also enable users to preview the
received media content on swiping down the notifications panel.
The new "notification extension" will be made
available for users after Whatsapp adds improvements in the next updates, the
report added. If someone sends you an image on WhatsApp today, you’ll have to
open their message to see it. The notification you receive will simply read
“image.” WhatsApp is finally doing something about that. A new notification
extension will let you preview images and more inside iOS notifications. This
update will allow users to preview and download media from on-screen
notifications itself.
You can send now messages to your WhatsApp groups using
Siri!
With the latest update, WhatsApp for iPhone now lets you use
Siri to send messages to your WhatsApp groups. You don't need to access
WhatsApp on your Apple device and then type the message for your WhatsApp
groups. Instead, you can use your voice to send an important message to one of
your groups on the instant messaging app. This comes as an extension to the
Siri integration that has been a part for WhatsApp since September 2016. There
is no word yet when will this extension reach the Android users.
As per WABetaInfo, the feature should work on all iOS
10-supported devices. In its previous update, WhatsApp launched new features
including the “forwarded” tag that goes along with messages that are being
forwarded. New update also contains bug
fixes and general stabilization.
