“We are happy with the huge success of Galaxy J8 and J6
smartphones. Our philosophy of keeping our ears to the ground and incorporating
consumer feedbacks into our products has paid off. Our recently launched
Chat-over-Video feature in Infinity models has received an overwhelming
response with more than 50% of consumers using it on a regular basis. Built for
today’s millennials, Galaxy J8 and J6 have set the standard for an unparalleled
viewing experience with our signature super AMOLED Infinity Display. Galaxy J,
known for unique ‘Make for India’ innovations, has a stellar legacy, accounting
for one in three smartphones sold in the country. We are confident that the new
devices will help us further increase our market share in the country,” said
Mr. Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President, Samsung India.
Galaxy J8 and J6 come with Samsung’s latest ‘Make for India’
innovation – Chat-over-Video. Developed in Samsung R&D center, Noida, the
Chat-over-Video feature complements millennial requirements of uninterrupted
video binging.
Much like the Galaxy S and Note series, these smartphones come
with "Infinity Display" that have previously made the Samsung
flagships stand out from the crowd. The five new phones have in a way been
created using the same tried and tested recipe – beautiful Infinity Display
optimised to provide a distinct Samsung experience – that worked wonders for
Samsung's flagship devices in the past. The Samsung Galaxy J6 was the first of
the affordable portfolio to sport the Infinity Display with 18.5:9 ratio and
AMOLED panel. It runs on Exynos 7870 chipset and has 32 GB storage plus a slot
for microSD card. There is one camera on the back - 13 MP f/1.9 unit. The J6
costs no more than INR15,990 ($233).

The Galaxy J8, on other hand, comes with dual cameras and
bigger screen, although it still keeps the Infinity Display ratio. Specs-wise
it comes with Snapdragon 450 and 4 GB RAM, while storage is 64 GB and
expandable via a microSD slot. Galaxy J8 also sports a dual rear camera setup
with flagship 'Live Focus' feature, where users can bring sharp focus to the
foreground while blurring out the background. Users can adjust the level of
background blur both before and after clicking a shot.
The dual camera on the back is 16 MP + 5 MP setup and the
whole package is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery. Samsung is selling the Galaxy
J8 for INR18,990 (around $280) through offline stores and online retailers.
Both Galaxy J8 and J6 sport Samsung’s signature Infinity
Design philosophy, giving users nearly 15% more display area without increasing
the overall size of the device. Galaxy J8 and J6 come with extremely thin
bezels. The Super AMOLED display deliver an 18.5:9 aspect ratio that provides
an end to end viewing experience and more browsing space. These phones also get
a few India-specific features, like the ability to respond to SMS and WhatsApp
messages while watching a video and the Samsung Mall app, which acts as a
one-stop store for various popular online retail websites. Galaxy J6 was
launched on May 22 while Galaxy J8 was introduced on July 1.
Galaxy J8 and J6 are not the only devices to have won consumers
heart. There’s equally buoyant demand for recently launched Galaxy A6+ and A6.
Both these smartphones have wowed our consumers with their great design and
performance.
