Whatsapp launched a string of new features for admins
allowing them to better control their groups and improve the overall
experience. The new features included, group descriptions, a catch up feature
and protection for people who are being added repeatedly to groups where they
have left. WhatsApp is transforming from a messaging platform into an
announcement hubs, allowing admins to host groups where nobody else can reply. Now
Whatsapp, the instant messaging service has now introduced another group
setting for admins that will enable only them to send messages to a group. This
could be useful for people and groups that use WhatsApp as a way to send mass
updates, and to cut down on noise and clutter. Whatsapp has been working very
actively to control and improvise WhatsApp groups. Recently, it added a group
description in which the users can update their group info.
WhatsApp is borrowing a feature from Telegram which will
allow you to do a one-way broadcast to your contacts. The latest Whatsapp
feature for Group Admins will make it easy for them to restrict who can send
messages to the entire group. This is an important setting, which is rolled out
for iOS and Android users of the popular messaging app. WhatsApp group chats
can be incredibly useful — the perfect tool for organizing social events, or
keeping up to date with news from places like your children’s school. But,
everyone knows that groups can quickly descend into chaos as everyone starts,
well, chatting with one another. That’s why WhatsApp is introducing a new
option for group chats that lets only approved administrators send messages. WhatsApp
said the new feature will be available for all users around the world –
currently totalling more than one billion – who are running the latest supported
version of the app.
WhatsApp adds group chat option for only admins to send messages
“Today, we are launching a new group setting where only
admins are able to send messages to a group. One way people use groups is to receive
important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at
schools, community centers , and non-profit organizations. We have introduced
this new setting so admins can have better tools for these use case. To enable
the setting, just open “Group Info” in a group chat, then go Group Settings
> Send Messages and select “Only Admins.” . WhatsApp wrote in a blog post. This one-way
broadcast feature is being compared to a similar one in rival messaging app
Telegram. This feature also allows people
to sign up to get alerts from the admins of the channels that are
generally of news portals, companies, public interest groups etc…,
To enable this setting in whatsapp, group admin need to open
‘Group Info’, tap ‘Group Settings’, select Send Messages and then choose an
option ‘Only Admins’, which by default is set as ‘All Participants’. This
feature has been rolled out to all Android and iOS users. Whatsapp is expected
to launch group voice and video calls in the coming updates as well as a
feature that will let users to manually enable or disable media visibility setting
for specific chat and groups.
